Founded in Switzerland in 1874, Schindler Group is a global leader in elevators, escalators, and moving walks. Just a year earlier, in Australia in 1873, Albert Smith Group began its journey as a pioneer in branding and signage solutions.
Both companies have played trailblazing roles in China:
- In 1980, Schindler became the first Western company to form a joint venture in the People’s Republic of China.
- In 1994, Albert Smith Group followed suit, establishing the first joint venture with a Western sign manufacturer in Shanghai.
Their shared value of innovation continues to drive success—Schindler Lifts Australia was founded in 1981, and Albert Smith Signs has been a trusted signage partner ever since.
The Project
Albert Smith Signs was engaged to deliver Schindler’s corporate branding at their flagship Sydney head office, featuring high-level signage across two elevations.
Key elements included:
- A 3.8m square wall-mounted staging panel, engineered with a marine-grade aluminum frame and cladding for durability and fire safety.
- A 2m diameter Schindler logo, fabricated from fire-rated polycarbonate, digitally overlaid in corporate colours and illuminated with LEDs.
- The Schindler name, crafted using our signature 3D Permasign illuminated building letters, with aluminum returns and polycarbonate faces overlaid with 3M red vinyl to match brand colours.
Installation was expertly handled by Tradies On Ropes, specialists in high-access signage solutions.
